How To Measure Your Bra Size
Never underestimate the benefits of a well-fitted bra. Choosing the right bra for your shape and size is incredibly important, even if it’s not always easy. A good bra set should offer you complete comfort, support and confidence rather than dug-in shoulders and a gradually rising back. Even if you think you’ve been the same size forever, chances are your body has changed since your first measurement and your lingerie collection is in need of an update to reflect this.
Many department stores and lingerie shops offer a bra measuring service, but they aren’t for everyone. If you would prefer to measure your bra size in the privacy of your own home, using a bra size calculator is a great alternative. Here at BeCheeky we offer a free and accurate bra size calculator - all you have to do is enter your measurements!
So grab your tape measure, take off your top and choose a bra with the peace of mind that you’re buying the right size for you.
Your bra band (or back) size:
Take the measurement (in inches) from just under your bust, right around your ribcage. Ensure the tape measure is not loose, but not so tight that you can’t breathe! It should be resting smooth and straight across your back and where the crease of your bust meets your ribcage. You might need someone to help.
Voila! There’s your band or back size!
If your band size turns out to be an odd number (i.e. 33”), you will normally find the nearest band size up will fit best (i.e. 34”) but you may also want to try the lower band size (32”), especially if your tape measure was quite loose for the measurement.
Your bra cup size:
Measure around your bust at the fullest part (normally over your nipples). Again, ensure the tape measure is not too tight or too loose and nice and straight across your back.
The difference between this measurement and your calculated band size is used to determine your bra cup size as follows:
Less than 1 inch - AA Cup, 1 inch - A Cup, 2 inches - B Cup, 3 inches - C Cup, 4 inches - D Cup, 5 inches - DD Cup, 6 inches - E Cup, 7 inches - F Cup, 8 inches - G Cup
E.g. – your bra band size was calculated as 34” and your bust measurement came out at 38”, so the difference between these measurements is 4” – this makes your bra cup size a D…easy!
Your above bra size:
Measure snugly around your rib cage above your breasts and under your arms keeping the tape measure level all the way around.
This measurement can be in inches or centimetres but must be the same as in steps 1 & 2. note: This third measurement is optional. If you leave this field empty, your bra size will be calculated using only the first two measurements, however, in order to obtain the most accurate results you are recommended to use all three measurements.
